Control-to-data traceability

A control that cannot name the data it protects is an assertion. Traceability ties every control to the specific columns, CDEs, and reports it covers, as a live join on the governed graph, so when lineage moves, the mapping moves with it. Because coverage is computed from the graph rather than kept as a separate document, it stays current by construction.

What you get01 / 03
01

Every control is mapped to the CDEs, columns, and reports it protects, and the mapping is recomputed from live lineage rather than maintained by hand.

02

Unmapped controls and uncovered CDEs surface as named gaps the day they appear, because coverage is derived and nobody can set it manually.

03

When a pipeline change moves data out from under a control, the break flags immediately rather than at the next annual control review.

04

You can walk the thread in either direction: pick an obligation and see the columns underneath it, or pick a column and see every obligation riding on it.

05

Imported control mappings land as claims and are reconciled against parsed lineage, with differences flagged rather than silently merged.

06

The second line gets coverage views by framework, report, and owner. All of them are queries on the graph, and all of them are current.

How it works02 / 03
1

Join

Controls, obligations, CDEs, and lineage live on one governed graph, so coverage becomes a query you run rather than a document you maintain.

2

Derive

Coverage status is computed from the live join. It is derived, never set, so it cannot be propped up by hand.

3

Detect

When lineage shifts or a mapping lapses, every affected control flags the same day.

4

Seal

Every mapping change goes through the decision door and lands on the hash-chained ledger.

Questions it answers03 / 03

“Which controls protect the data behind this report?”

Pick the report and the graph shows every control mapped to the columns and CDEs underneath it. The answer is a query on live lineage, so it reflects the pipelines as they run today.

“If this feed changes, which controls are affected?”

Because control mappings are a live join on lineage, a pipeline change that moves data out from under a control flags immediately. Every affected control is named the same day, not at the next annual review.

“Can you show me every CDE with no control behind it?”

Yes. Coverage is derived, so uncovered CDEs surface as named gaps the day they appear, and the second line can pull that view by framework, report, or owner at any time.

The next step

Start with proof, not a promise.

There are three ways in, and each one earns the next. You approve the exit criteria before we spend any more of your time or budget.

01

A 60-minute working session

Bring one report that is expensive to prove. We walk the mechanism against it. Nothing is required from your side.

02

A two-week guided sandbox

Your team works hands-on against a synthetic sample bank. It requires zero access to your systems and zero procurement.

03

A six-week proof on your systems

We use read-only metadata across five systems and one priority report, scored against criteria both sides sign first. The decision it produces is yours.
